To whom it may concern, I would like to provide my glowing recommendation of the Irving Park Early Learning Center. I have two children at the center - one in toddlers and the other in Pre-K - and they are both very happy. My older child has been a student at IPELC since she was a toddler herself and has learned so many things including (but not limited to) counting, the alphabet, music and songs, Spanish-language counting and music, social skills, manners and listening, how to be a member of a team, arts and crafts, imaginative play, etc. She comes home with stories and songs all the time. My son is in the toddlers class now and has been very comfortable in his transition to a daycare environment. The teachers are gentle and kind and use techniques such as redirection when he is having difficulty with his peers (as little ones are apt to do!). The school provides updates and the office has an open-door policy making it easy to voice any concerns or get administrative support when needed. I've had very few complaints over the years and very much recommend IPELC to anyone in the area looking for reliable and friendly care for their child!   -Amy Isadore”

Creative

Surrounded by vivid colors, building blocks and given room to create with their own hands, infants learn about shapes, lines and basic creative construction. They will later reap these skills when learning how to read and write, as well as establish a creative platform from which they can draw from later in life.

We believe children learn through play

Through play, children learn about themselves, their environment, people, and the world around them. Play is critical to the healthy growth and development of children. Both solitary and social play is necessary for a child’s development.

Foundations for Success

A child can play with a building toy alone and in the process, develop independence, self-sufficiency and persistence. Playing with the same toy with others, the child acquires social skills such as learning to cooperate, negotiate, share, show empathy, take turns, and play by the rules. These are important interpersonal life skills, all of which play fosters. Play in early childhood is the best foundation for success in school.

Classroom Configuration
Classrooms are configured as learning centers where children opt from a range of activities that develop problem solving and essential interaction with other children. Toddlers discover the concept of self and make formative conclusions about their surroundings. Learning centers are designed to help children become adept at both discerning their environment and adapt to dynamic social settings as they grow.

Trust your child to Irving Park Infant Toddler Center with confidence. Serving the Irving Park, Albany Park and Lakeview neighborhoods in Chicago, we thoughtfully design your child’s learning journey with the next steps in mind. We cultivate strong foundations for success in elementary school and beyond.

Leadership characteristics of teachers at IPITC
Our teachers observe, comment and are actively involved in play. They respond to immediate as well as long-term, individualized growth patterms in children. Active and structured attention to children during play allows our teachers to address learning mechanics over the course of instruction.

A child may chose to play alone, in a group or through a variation thereof. These experiences shape the foundations of character, personality and social value systems that will forge the toolsets with which children will manage the world. IPITC teachers are trained to lead play and correct behavior according to methods which have proven succcesful in establishing strong fundamentals.
