Our curriculum is designed to be fun and based on play. On top of that foundation, we expect every child to be equipped with knowledge they will to succeed after graduating from our Center.
Irving Park Infant Toddler Center believes children learn through play. Safety is our first priority and we design all our activities to be fun and physically engaging.
Surrounded by vivid colors, building blocks and given room to create with their own hands, infants learn about shapes, lines and basic creative construction. They will later reap these skills when learning how to read and write, as well as establish a creative platform from which they can draw from later in life.
Through play, children learn about themselves, their environment, people, and the world around them. Play is critical to the healthy growth and development of children. Both solitary and social play is necessary for a child’s development.
A child can play with a building toy alone and in the process, develop independence, self-sufficiency and persistence. Playing with the same toy with others, the child acquires social skills such as learning to cooperate, negotiate, share, show empathy, take turns, and play by the rules. These are important interpersonal life skills, all of which play fosters. Play in early childhood is the best foundation for success in school.
A child may chose to play alone, in a group or through a variation thereof. These experiences shape the foundations of character, personality and social value systems that will forge the toolsets with which children will manage the world. IPITC teachers are trained to lead play and correct behavior according to methods which have proven succcesful in establishing strong fundamentals.
